REAL Broker Review by Husband & Wife Real Estate Team

In this REAL Broker review, we sit down with Carol and Mike Church, a dynamic husband-and-wife real estate team, who recently made the switch to REAL Broker from Keller Williams. With three years of experience in the industry and a unique perspective as a domestic team, Carol and Mike share their candid experiences and insights about what it's like being an agent at REAL Broker.

Background and Transition

Carol and Mike have been serving the Upstate region of South Carolina for several years. Carol, who grew up in the area, finds joy in seeing Greenville grow and attract new families. Their transition to REAL Broker was driven by the desire for a better fit for their business model.

"We moved to REAL a couple of months ago from Keller Williams," Carol shares. "It’s a perfect fit for us."

Lead Generation Success

The team initially struggled with traditional lead generation methods at Keller Williams, spending significant amounts of money without much success. However, a pivotal moment came when they discovered a new strategy on YouTube.

"We started doing YouTube, and now that’s all we do," Mike explains. "We don’t do any cold calling or mailers. It’s all YouTube, and clients call us because they feel like they already know us."

This shift to YouTube has transformed their business, with clients regularly reaching out to them, having binge-watched their videos.

Initial Challenges

Like any transition, the move to REAL Broker came with its set of challenges. The couple faced hurdles with software integration, particularly with Skyslope, which lacked the necessary state forms for South Carolina.

"We had to download documents from zip forms, fill them out, and then upload them to Skyslope," Mike recounts. "It was a hassle, but we’re told it will be smoother by the end of the year."

Additionally, there was a unique issue with payroll due to Mike’s last name, Church, being mistaken for an actual church. Thankfully, their broker, April, was instrumental in resolving this.

Working as a Domestic Team

One of the unique aspects of Carol and Mike’s business is their dynamic as a domestic team. They have clearly defined roles: Carol handles video creation and editing, while Mike manages the paperwork and technical aspects.

"We work together really well," Carol notes. "People like the husband-and-wife team dynamic, and it works great for us."

Technology and Support at REAL Broker

Carol and Mike appreciate the technology at REAL Broker, although they are still getting used to some features.

"The commission tracking app is great. We can verify our commissions easily," Mike mentions. "The transparency on those numbers is one of my favorite parts."

They also value the support from their broker. "Our broker is super helpful," Carol says. "We have an open line of communication, which is a big difference from our previous brokerage."

Looking Ahead

While Carol and Mike are still settling into their roles at REAL Broker, they are optimistic about the future. They are excited about the potential for growth and the support they receive.

"The fees and commission splits are much better than at Keller Williams," Mike highlights. "Even if we don’t cap, we get more per check than we ever did before."
